Eid-ul-Azha just round the corner, owners of garment manufacturing units have been urged to disburse the workers’ salary and festival bonus by 19 July.
Addressing a meeting of the Tripartite Consultative Council (TCC) on readymade garment industry, State Minister for Labour and Employment Begum Monnujan Sufian, made this call even if she underlined that keeping with the labour law, strict action will be taken against those who fail to do so within the stipulated timeframe.
The Minister also, reportedly, stated that COVID-19 vaccines will soon be given to the garment workers under the age of 35 on a priority basis even as she called upon field level officials of the Labour and Employment Ministry to motivate the workers who are aged 35 and above to get vaccinated under the mass vaccination campaign.
It may be mentioned here that even if the Bangladesh Government has decided to relax the countrywide restrictions from 15 July to 22 July, the State Minister has urged people to avoid moving from one place to another during the period in view of the pandemic.
