More than 100 garment manufacturers in Bangladesh now have their own design and innovation centres. What’s more, around 25 of these are said to be world-class design and innovation studios!
This was maintained in recent media reports, which cited industry people in this regard.
For business sustainability and enhanced competitive edge in the global market, garment makers are now, reportedly, coming out of the practice of manufacturing as per the designs provided by the buyers even as industry people have, reportedly, claimed that designs created by garment makers, if liked by the buyers, can lead to getting increased prices, while also open up the possibility of bagging additional work orders.
Many of these garment exporters also have offices and designers in overseas countries while in addition to them, many entities that sell clothes in the local market, also have quality design centres, as per the stakeholders, who, reportedly, claimed that planning to reduce cost for their own design and innovation teams, buyers are now encouraging garment makers to come with their own innovations and designs.
…If our design is liked by a buyer, we get the opportunity to make the product for the next two seasons for that buyer, reportedly, underlined Shovon Islam, Managing Director of Sparrow Group — Sparrow Group is one of the largest woven apparel exporters in Bangladesh and set up its own design studio way back in 2014 — while interacting with the media.
