Ms Sewtech Fashion Limited, which is a sister concern of Shahi Exports Pvt. Ltd., India’s largest garment manufacturing company, is going to establish an apparel manufacturing unit at the Chittagong Export Processing Zone.
According to media reports, the concerned company recently signed an agreement in this regard with the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) to establish the garment manufacturing unit at an investment of US $ 9.26 million.
The Director of Sewtech Fashion Limited, Balagi Pavadai, and Mohammad Faruque Alam, Member (Engineering) of BEPZA signed the agreement on 18 July on behalf of their respective organisations, in which were present Nafisa Banu (member-Finance), Secretary Md. Zakir Hossain Chowdhury and Md. Tanvir Hossain, General Manager-Investment Promotion, from BEPZA, amongst others.
According to the BEPZA authorities, this fully foreign-owned company will create new employment opportunities for 3,393 Bangladeshis and would churn out around 3.36 million pieces of ladies, kids and men’s woven tops annually.
