Sirajganj Economic Zone Limited, which operates a private economic zone licensed by the Bangladesh Economic Zone Authority, has allotted land to 14 investors. A ‘Detailed Engineering Plan’ agreement for Sirajganj EZ has been signed with Japan Development Institute (JDI). The agreement was signed on June 29, 2021, at a ceremony at the BEZA headquarters in Dhaka.
Pawan Chowdhury, Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA), was present as the chief guest at the signing ceremony and said that BEZA was working to establish 100 economic zones across the country under the direct supervision of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Under the agreements, Sirajganj EZ has allocated 110 acres between different 14 individual industries. JDI will provide engineering assistance for land development in Sirajganj EZ. JDI is the most recognized and globally acclaimed expert in this field.

Located on the west side of the Bangabandhu Jamuna Bridge on the banks of the river Jamuna, the Sirajganj Economic Zone is the largest private special economic zone in Bangladesh, with 1,035.93 acres of clear title land.
A consortium comprised of 11 renowned business groups like Knit Asia Ltd., Rising Holdings Ltd. Mahmud Fashion, Ratul Knitwear, S.M Holdings, Paragon Feed, Textown Ltd., Manami Fashions, Change Bangladesh Ltd and two renowned business personality Dr. Mohammad Kamruzzaman from Total Quality Resources and Ehsan Habib from Esquire Group was formed in the name of Sirajganj Economic Zone Limited (SEZL). It is expected to host the textile and knitwear, food processing, pharmaceuticals, leather, automobile engineering, LPG manufacturing, steel manufacturing, and fish and shipbuilding industries.
The region will create employment for five lakh people and bring in a lot of foreign investment for the private sector in Bangladesh.
Chairman of the Sirajganj EZ A Matin Chowdhury said that the economic zone is being developed on the banks of the river Jamuna with the necessary facilities to set up any heavy industry in a natural landscape.
