Banks have increased the greenback exchange rate by Tk 1 to Tk 103 per USD for exporters.
The Association of Bankers Bangladesh (ABB) and Bangladesh Foreign Exchange Dealers’ Association (BAFEDA) announced the new USD rate for exporters on Wednesday, which came into immediate effect. The BAFEDA has sent a letter to banks in this regard.
ABB and BAFEDA leaders held a meeting on January 31 to fix the new USD rate, insiders say.
It was decided in the meeting to increase the rate for export proceeds. However, the price of USD was kept unchanged for payment of expatriate income and import duties.
As per the new decision, exporters will get Tk 1 more against each USD. And in terms of expatriate income, the USD price has been kept unchanged at Tk 107.
