Over 30 renowned brands and retailers have committed to an annual contribution of 0.019 per cent of their respective readymade garment (RMG) export volumes from Bangladesh to endorse the Employment Injury Scheme (EIS Pilot), reports apparelresources.com.
Reports maintained this adding this initiative provides financial protection for Bangladeshi workers against workplace injuries and fatalities, proving crucial for the country’s export-oriented RMG industry.
Brands like H&M, Primark, Amazon, C&A, Puma, Decathlon, Giorgio Armani, and VF Corp are among those supporting the scheme, with their financial commitment translating to US $ 19,000 annually for a brand with a US $ 100 million RMG export volume.
The EIS Pilot, recognised as a lifeline for workers by the Ethical Trading Initiative, employs robust data gathering and learning mechanisms to effectively respond to occupational accidents, diseases, and rehabilitation needs within the industry.
