3 more Bangladesh RMG factories get LEED certification

Three new RMG factories in the country got LEED certification, which is a testament to the country’s unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability in the readymade garment (RMG) sector.

The three new LEED-certified RMG factories are: Tasniah Fabrics Ltd Admin Building and Tasniah Fabrics Ltd RMG Building at Nayapaya in Gazipur’s Kashimpur, and Comfit Golden Leaf at Gorai in Tangail’s Mirzapur.

This new addition brings the total number of LEED Certified Factories in Bangladesh to 243, with 101 Platinum and 128 Gold Certified. Bangladesh now has 68 out of the top 100 highest-rated LEED Certified Factories in the world.

Industry insiders said that this is a landmark moment for Bangladesh and a testament to the country’s unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability in the RMG sector.

Tasniah Fabrics Ltd Admin Building has officially become the highest-rated LEED Certified factory in the world, earning an unprecedented 107 points under the LEED v4 rating system — surpassing the previous global leader, SM Sourcing, which held the title with 106 points.

In a statement sent to the media, former BGMEA director Mohiuddin Rubel said that this historic achievement not only places Bangladesh firmly at the forefront of sustainable industrial practices globally but also underscores the RMG industry’s strategic shift toward green growth, energy efficiency, and environmentally responsible manufacturing.

“It highlights the visionary leadership and innovation of our entrepreneurs and reaffirms Bangladesh’s position as a responsible and future-ready sourcing destination,” said Rubel, also the additional managing director of Denim Expert Ltd.

As the world increasingly prioritises ESG performance and sustainability in supply chains, he said this milestone enhances the country’s global image, opens new market opportunities, and sets a new benchmark for green building excellence — not just in apparel, but across industries.
