The garment factory owner arrested on charge of financing to new militant outfit ‘Shaheed Hamza Brigade’ (SHB) was placed on a two-day fresh remand on Monday. Chittagong Senior Judicial Magistrate Mahmud Hasan sanctioned the remand after members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) sought five-day remand against the accused Anamul Hoque, 39, in a case file with Hathazari Police Station, said Chittagong District Public Prosecutor (PP) Abul Hashem. The court also rejected the bail petition of the accused. RAB arrested Anamul, son of Matiar Rahman of Jessore headquarters, from Turag area in the capital on September 5. Earlier, he was taken to five-day remand in the case filed with Banskhali Police Station in connection with unearthing of a training camp of SHB and recovery of firearms and ammunition from the remote Lotmoni hill under the Banskhali upazila. The accused also made confessional statement before the Banskhali Court in the case on September 10. Now, Anamul was placed on remand in the case filed in connection with arrest of 12 militants from an Arabic learning centre – Al Madrashatul Abu Bakkar (R), in Hathazari upazila with huge audio and video clips on militant training on February 19 this year. With Anamul, RAB-men arrested four persons, including three lawyers on charge of providing fund to SHB. The arrested lawyers are Barrister Sakila Farzana, 39, Advocate Md Hasanuzzaman Liton, 30, and Mahfuz Chowdhury Bapon, 25.
