Ginneries across Pakistan received over 2.2 million bales of cotton as of Sept 1

Seed cotton (Phutti) equivalent to over 21,97,801 bales of cotton have reached ginneries across Pakistan as of September 15, showing a decrease of 20.10 percent compared to corresponding period last year when ginneries received 27,50,563 bales, as per figures issued of cotton arrival in the second fortnightly report of Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) up to September 15, 2015. Out of the total arrivals, 2.19 million bales of cotton have been converted into bales so far. Ginneries in Punjab recorded arrival of 9,14,316 bales recorded decrease of 23.21 per cent. Sindh ginneries recorded arrival of 12,83,385 bales while last year Sindh received 15,59,883 bales. Ginneries in Sindh recorded a shortfall of 7.98 % as compared to corresponding period last year. Textile mills have bought 16,64,569 bales while exporters bought 1,93,976 bales. The total bales sold out so far were calculated at 18,58,545 bales. Multan received 7,287 bales 71.94 percent short than last year, Lodhran 13,188 bales 50.98 percent short, Khanewal 1,98,094 bales 12.58 percent short, Muzaffargarh 20,959 bales an increase of 69.57 percent, Dera Ghazi Khan 22,033 an increase of 100 percent, Rajanpur 17,399 bales, 309.39 percent increase, Layyah 12,190, 258.53 percent increase, Vehari 1,41,285 bales 36.21 percent less, Sahiwal 1,35,329 bales 26.72 percent less than last year, Pakpattan 47,436 bales 35.89 percent less, Okara 15,670 23.63 percent less, Qasur 6,750 11.65 percent less,Toba Tek Singh 75,634 bales, Faisalabad 29,405 percent bales, Jhang 21,437, Mianwali 9,584, Bhakkar 11,550 Sargodha 2,700, Rahimyar Khan 12,010 bales, Bahawalpur 34,075 and Bahawalnagar 80,300 bales. In Sindh: Hyderabad 1,24,637 bales 11.95 percent less than last year, Mirpur Khas (Thar) 1,85,223 bales 24.90 percent less, Sangarh, 7,62,769 bales 14.82 percent less, Nawabshah 52,345 bales, Naushero Feroze 19,591 bales, Jamshoro 89,9821 bales, Badeen 24,156 bales and Baluchistan 15,077 bales. Total 585 ginning factories are operational in the country. Of them 375 in Punjab and 210 in Sindh. Total 3,39,256 bales are lying in unsold stock.
