Muggers snatched away Tk 2.2 million and injured two employees of a garments factory from the city’s Banasree on Thursday. The injured are Sayedul, 38, and Tito, 36, two employees of Rana Enterprise, a garments factory in Banasree under Rampura police station. Rezaul Karim, brother of Rana Enterprise chairman Kamal Uddin, told UNB that Sayedul and Tito had gone to the Banasree branch of First Security Islami Bank Ltd to withdraw Tk 2.2 million to pay workers’ salaries in the morning. Having withdrawn the money, they were returning to the Rana Enterprise premises with the money inside a travel bag. When they reached road number-2 of Banasree C Block at around 11:54 am, four muggers riding on two motorcycles suddenly appeared out of nowhere and sprayed bullets targeting them. Both Sayedul and Tito sustained bullet injuries to their legs. The gangsters quickly made their getaway taking the money-laden travel bag with them. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rampura police station Proloy Kumar Shaha said police are investigating the incident. However no case was filed until Thursday evening, he added.
