Iraqi businessmen are willing to import readymade garments (RMG) from Bangladesh, said Bangladesh Ambassador to Iraq Abu Maksud M Forhad.He made the observation at a courtesy call on BGMEA President Md Siddiqur Rahman at his office in the capital on Monday. BGMEA Vice President (finance) Mohammed Nasir was present at the meeting.He said that Iraq imports most of the garments it needs from countries like China and Turkey.But Iraqi high officials as well as people in general have very positive impression on Bangladeshi garments. They are keen to import RMG from Bangladesh.“We know that Bangladesh is the second largest RMG exporter of the world. Iran is seriously thinking over import of garments from Bangladesh directly,” he added.M Forhad also suggested BGMEA leaders for taking initiatives to export RMG to Iraq as early as possible. He will help build a business relation among businessmen between Bangladeshi and Iraqi.
