Savar CETP to be operational soon

Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu exchanges views with representatives of the tannery industry at his office in the capital on Monday.The Central Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) at Savar Tannery Industrial City will be introduced soon since about 98 percent construction works of the plant has already been completed.The information was revealed on Monday at a view-exchange meeting held between Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu and the representatives of the tannery industry related organisations and institutions at the industries ministry in Dhaka, an official release said.Speaking at the meeting, Amu said the owners of the allotted plots in the industrial city will have to bear the construction cost of the CEPT and pay land registration fee at the same time, reports BSS.“The construction works of CEPT is going to be completed. The CEPT is working well to purify chemical waste. We also give priority on road repair in the tannery industrial city. The road repairing works will be completed within three months,” he added.Mentioning the tannery as the second largest export sector, the Industries Minister said the government is set to export goods worth US$5 billion from the tannery industry in 2021. He said the Industry Ministry will suggest the National Board of Revenue (NBR) to provide the “Central Bonded Warehouse” facilities for chemical import.
