ZnZ focuses on value-added products in fabric show

Leading fabric producer Zaber & Zubair Fabrics Ltd (ZnZ), a concern of Noman Group, is holding a weeklong fabric show in Dhaka with the aim of showcasing the expertise of the entity and the country in manufacturing value-added products.Dubbed as Fabric Week that began on October 15 on the 13th floor of Concord Baksh Tower in Gulshan-2 in capital Dhaka, the third such show held by the fabric manufacturer will end tomorrow.ZnZ is displaying the products it has developed especially for the autumn-winter 2018-2019 range.Fabric Week also known as mill week, a concept for showcasing fabric or garment products range for the buyers, is a pioneering initiative in the country by Zaber & Zubair Fabrics, which exports around 40 per cent value-added products out of its total export basket.‘The aim of our initiative is to give a platform to the world renowned brands, designers, readymade garment industries and other entities associated with the sector a platform to know about the products range which we have,’ Zaber & Zubair Fabrics deputy managing director Mohammad Abdullah Zaber told New Age.‘Around 300 buyers along with other entities from Europe and America have so far registered for the fair and the response was in line with our target,’ he said.Such initiative would allow Zaber & Zubair as well as the country to enhance its brand image globally as a value-added fabric manufacturer, Zaber said.‘Apart from holding fair in Bangladesh, we have also organised fair in Paris to demon strate our advanced products for the globally renowned brands as well as for the consumers,’ the Zaber & Zubair Fabrics DMD said.‘As the outcome of our constant efforts to develop value-added products along with the basic fabrics, we are receiving good response from the global fashion brands like H&M, M&S, C&A, Zara and JC Penny,’ he said.Even India, Pakistan and China procure fabrics from Bangladesh now, he said.‘To reach this level of capacity, we have invested significantly for product development and we will keep developing products in future,’ he said.Speaking about the impact of Bangladeshi value-added products over buyers, Zaber & Zubair Fabrics senior general manager Pradeep Khatri said that even the buyers from India, Pakistan and China had been taking products from Bangladesh due to quality and competitiveness. For the international buyers from different brands, making high-end products in Bangladesh with fabrics from other country is lengthy and at the same time costly rather than making the same product with Bangladesh-made fabrics, he said.Speaking about the recent trade war between China and the US, Pradeep said that Bangladesh would obviously be benefited from it.Products of Zaber & Zubair, which was incorporated in 1994, include home, fabrics, apparels and accessories. Its fabric products include cotton poplins, cambic and voiles, cotton twills, chinos and satins, CVC and poly cotton blends, heavy and denser bottoms wear fabrics, dobby woven fabrics, rib stop fabrics, bedford cord fabrics, waffle fabrics, slub yarn fabrics, high-quality stretch poplins (lycra) and technical specialty fabrics.
