Helsinki to host World Circular Economy Forum in June

Around 2,000 key circular economy stakeholders will participate in the 3rd World Circular Economy Forum (WCEF) to be organised in Helsinki on June 3-5. To be hosted by SITRA, the Finnish Innovation Fund, the forum this year will offer networking opportunities and have a strong emphasis on the next era of the circular economy and scaling up the transition. This involves growing investments into circular economy businesses, spreading and adopting new technologies and making significant regulatory changes that enable the circular economy to flourish, according to SITRA. Consisting of 17 plenary and parallel sessions with keynote speeches and thematic discussions, WCEF 2019 will be divided into four different tracks: innovation, sectoral, strategy and social. There will also be side sessions and side events organised during and around the forum by our partners. Speakers will include, Laura Tuck, vice president of sustainable development at the World Bank; Emma Navarro, vice president of European Investment Bank; Wu Changhua, chief executive director of Beijing Future Innovation Centre; Peter Bakker, president of World Business Council for Sustainable Development; Daniel Calleja, director general for environment of European Commission; and Veera Helnonen, director of SITRA.
