RMG owners to help workers if get infected with coronavirus: Home Minister

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Tuesday said readymade garment factory (RMG) owners have decided to help workers if any of them gets infected with Covid-19.

After an urgent meeting with the factory owners at the secretariat in the capital, the home minister said, “We also talked about establishing a lab if possible.”

“The owners said they have already paid salaries of March to 97 percent of the workers, and they will also pay wages for April following the government’s instruction,” he added.

Stating the meeting an unofficial one, Asaduzzaman Khan further said they mainly discussed about the workers who are from the Dhaka city will only rejoin their respective workplaces, and if working with them is causing any problem.

No workers from outside the capital will be allowed for now, he added.
