Irish buyers urged to honour contracts with Bangladeshi RMG units

Foreign Minister Dr AKM Abdul Momen urged Irish buyers to honour their import contracts from readymade garment (RMG) units of Bangladesh considering the dire consequence of economic fallout due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

He made the request on Tuesday during a telephone conversation with Irish Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Simon Coveney, a foreign ministry press release said on Wednesday.

During the talk, Momen expressed concern that many foreign buyers are showing irresponsible behavior by dishonoring their import contracts from Bangladesh amid Covid-19 that is adversely affecting four million RMG workers here, most of whom are women, reports BSS.
