Free medical consultations for apparel workers

In a recent development that would help the readymade garment workers to avail no cost medical consultation, Digital Healthcare Solutions (a social business) has partnered with USAID’s MaMoni Maternal and Newborn Care Strengthening Project to provide free doctor consultations to the apparel workers along with the slum dwellers. According to a press release issued in this direction, the project titled ‘Emergency Response to COVID-19 Pandemic’, was implemented by Save the Children — effective 1 February 2021, the project will provide free doctor consultations along with the free Surokkhito package with up to Taka 20,000 Free Health Cashback — in association with factories under the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and BEPZA to serve around 150,000 marginalised people of the country including the garment workers and slum dwellers of Narsingdi, Gazipur, Dhaka and Narayanganj. The press release further underlined that Digital Healthcare Solutions and MaMoni Maternal and Newborn Care Strengthening Project are setting up in seven RMG factories of Dhaka and its surrounding areas of Narsingdi, Gazipur and Narayanganj, digital doctor booths, where workers of these units would be able to consult with specialist doctors of various departments like gynaecology, psychology, paediatrics and dermatology, for themselves and their families via video calls, completely free of cost.
