German retail sale grows 1.9% in July

According to provisional results of the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the real turnover of retail enterprises in Germany was 1.9 percent and the nominal turnover was 2.4 percent higher in July 2022, than in June 2022.

But compared with July 2021, retail trade recorded 2.6 percent decrease in turnover in real terms and a nominal increase of 6.1 percent in July 2022.

On the other side, in clothing and footwear, consumer price index registered a change of 0.8 percent in July 2022 compared to the previous year and -2.7 percent compared to June 2022.

The difference between the results in real and nominal terms reflects the high price increases in retail trade.
