DHAKA, March 6, 2023 (BSS) – Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud hoped that the new magazine ‘The Footwear Digest’ would play an encouraging role in the footwear industry of Bangladesh.
He was addressing as the chief guest at the launching ceremony of the monthly on Monday evening at a local posh hotel in Gulshan in the capital.
Md Iqbal Hossain, MP, member of advisory council of the Bangladesh Institute of Labour Studies and EnergyPac director Mikail Shipar and BUET Professor Dr Ferdous Sarwar, among others, spoke as special guests at the function conducted by Mehdi Mahbub, editor of the monthly.
Dr Hasan, also Awami League joint secretary, said, “I hope this monthly will portray the footwear industry of the country.”
He said the growth of footwear industry is needed for betterment of the country and lauded the industry as over 200 factories are currently contributing to export of 1.3 billion USD side by side with employing more than six lakh people directly or indirectly.
