Transparency tool to revolutionize denim manufacturing at Kingpins Amsterdam show

The upcoming Kingpins Amsterdam show is set to introduce a groundbreaking tool that will objectively assess the environmental impact of every step in the manufacturing process of denim jeans.

Figure: The upcoming Kingpins Amsterdam show is set to introduce a groundbreaking tool that will objectively assess the environmental impact of every step in the manufacturing process of denim jeans.

Developed by the Transformers Foundation, the “Transparency Tool” (TTT) will use unprocessed data to compare inputs and outputs for a set of clothes, providing mills and brands with the information they need to make informed decisions about the goods they produce and purchase.

With the TTT, denim manufacturers will be able to apply scientific techniques to sustainability promises, assigning a trustworthy figure to sustainability claims. According to Kingpins creator Andrew Olah, this tool will “forever shift the entire discourse around sustainability in the jeans industry.”

Attendees of the Kingpins Amsterdam show on April 12 will have the opportunity to witness the TTT in action and learn more about its functionality at a seminar.

Besides the TTT, Kingpins will also introduce Material Exchange’s Livestock, an online marketplace featuring a range of denim products.

This platform allows buyers to discover real-time information on who has what stock and in what quantities, providing transparency in the supply chain.

To support PVH Europe’s Most Sustainable Product (MSP) project, Kingpins, and PVH collaborated last year, resulting in the production of a line of clothing using specific MSP fabrics and washes in PVH’s Amsterdam atelier.

This project highlights the increasing importance of sustainability in the fashion industry, and the need for innovative tools like the TTT to help manufacturers make more informed decisions.
