Over the course of the next five years, US retailer Walmart intends to construct or renovate over 150 stores in the US.
These initiatives help the communities in which they are implemented by representing a capital investment of millions of dollars in labor, supplies, and tax revenue.
By this initiative, tens of thousands of jobs will be created to support the retailer’s ambitions to rebuild 650 locations throughout 47 states and Puerto Rico over the course of the next 12 months.
Regarding these, John Furner, President and CEO, Walmart US said, “I’m excited to say the first two new stores under this initiative, both neighborhood markets, are set to open later this spring in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida and Atlanta, Georgia. We’re also finalising construction plans on 12 new projects we intend to start this year, along with converting one of our smaller locations to a Walmart supercenter.”
Additionally, the program will be created with sustainability in mind, incorporating reduced impact refrigerants, more energy-efficient lighting and equipment, and more.
According to the company’s website, Walmart is also working on creating a network of reasonably priced fast-charging stations for electric vehicles from coast to coast. This would enable Walmart workers and shoppers to own EVs more conveniently and easily.
Whether a customer is interacting with a store, Walmart.com, or one of their mobile apps, these newly constructed and renovated locations will make it easier to meet and beyond their expectations.
