Presenting new ideas and solutions based on garment industry, deep sea port and modernisation of Chittagong Port, Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) won the four-day long business competition of Chittagong University on Sunday. The final round of the Inter Business School National Business Idea and Branding Competition tilted “Creative Challenge 2016” was held at World Trade Centre in Chittagong city’s Agrabad. Two teams of BUP secured both the championship and the runners-up title. With the slogan “Building Chittagong, Branding Bangladesh”, Finance and Banking Debating Association of CU have organised the programme for the third time at the university. A total of 120 participants under 40 public and private universities took part in the competition. At the final round, a total of five teams from – Chittagong University, North South University, Bangladesh University of Professionals and East West University – were given topics over Chittagong deep sea port, blue economy, modernisation of Chittagong Port and prospect and challenges of specialised EPZ sectors. The competitors presented their corporate ideas with an aim to promote Chittagong and the country and displayed various development models over the topics. The judges announced the winners based on the uniqueness and project-implementation probability, among other points, of the teams. CU Finance department’s Associate Professor Tanvir Mohammed Arif presided over the final day’s programme. CU BBA faculty Dean Professor Dr Jahangir Alam, Marketing department chairman and also Rotary Chittagong district Governor Tayeb Chowdhury, CU MBA Association General Secretary ANM Wajed Ali, Abul Khair “Marks” brand division In-Charge Tameem Hasan, CU Accounting department’s Professor Dr Harunur Rashid, Sourthen University BBA faculty Dean Professor Dr ANM Abdul Muktadir were also present. Marks, a brand of Abdul Khair Group, sponsored the programme with a view to developing intellectual aptitude of the nation. Pragmat, a private company, will provide free management consultancy to the winner of the competition. English daily Dhaka Tribune was the media partner of the competition.
