BD apparel & safety Expo begins in Ctg Thursday

As part of Bangladesh’s plan to reach a US$ 50-billion export target by 2021, a three-day fair titled ‘Bangladesh Apparel & Safety Expo, Chittagong 2015’ begins here on Thursday, reports UNB. Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed will inaugurate the exposition to be held at Radisson Blu Chittagong Bay View. Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, MEP Chair of the Trade Monitoring Group of South Asia Sahjjad Karim, European Union Ambassador in Dhaka Pierre Mayaudon, US Ambassador Marcia Stephens Bloom Bernicat, Canadian High Commissioner Benoit-Pierre Laramee, Chittagong City Corporation May AJM Nasir Uddin will also attend the inaugural session. President of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) M Atiqul Islam and BGMEA first vice president Nasiruddin Ahmed Chowdhury will also be present. The Expo, to be hosted by BGMEA, aims to create a sustainable roadmap for the apparel sector of the country to achieve the vision of US$ 50 billion export by 2021, the Golden Jubilee of Independence of Bangladesh, said the BGMEA President. The mega event will have 73 stalls comprising RMG, fabrics, garment accessories, machinery, fire equipment, service providers which showcase the sector’s strength. The fair will end on August 8.
