Garment worker battered in launch cabin

Four youths allegedly molested a garment worker at cabin of a launch while she with her boyfriend was going to their native home in Madaripur on Sunday night. Mosharraf Hossain, in-charge of Chandpur river police station, said the woman along with her boyfriend from Amitpur of Zinzira, got into the launch around 8pm on Sunday for going to her village home. “Around 11pm, the youths entered the cabin forcefully. They beat the couple and looted their phones and money. The assailants then threw the boyfriend out of the cabin and violated the woman sexually,” said Mosharraf. Later, the youths came out from up the cabin after confining the woman there. Hearing cry of the boyfriend for help, launch employees and other passengers rushed in and nabbed the four assailants. On receiving information, police rushed to the spot and rescued the woman breaking the lock. When contacted, the woman said the youths had entered her cabin forcefully and assaulted her sexually at gun point. “When they were entering the room, we were asked about their identity. Then they identified themselves as the members of law enforcers.” The couple work at a readymade garment factory in Keraniganj and they have decided that would get marry after going to native village. The police arrested the youths. They are Sabbir, Emran, Rajab and Sujon. All of them are the residents of Postogola. BM Nuruzzaman, additional superintendent of police, said a gun and two bottles of wines were seized from the four after the incident. The couple and the youths were sent to Chandpur police station. Two cases were filed in this connection.
