Workers of a garments factory blocked the Dhaka-Tangail highway for two hours following rumour of death of a fellow worker in a road accident in Etahata area of Joydebpur upazila on Saturday morning, reports UNB. Police said a security guard, Fazlur Rahman, and two workers of Diganto Sweater Factory suffered injuries as a bus of ‘Anabil Paribahan’ ran over them at about 7:00am in front of the factory in Etahata area on the highway in the upazila . They were rushed to a local hospital from where Fazlur Rahman was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment. Meanwhile, a rumour spread around that one of them was killed in the accident. Soon his fellow workers took to the street and put barricade on the highway, snapping vehicular movement for two hours. The unruly garment workers also set fire to the bus and vandalised some vehicles. On information, police rushed in and charged batons on the RMG workers to bring the situation under control. Traffic on the highway resumed at about 9:00am.
