Focuses on supply chain transparency

The seventh edition of Bangladesh Denim Expo will begin in Dhaka on November 8 to bring manufacturers, buyers and designers under the same roof to showcase their latest innovations. The two-day mega expo will be held at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) focusing on transparency of supply chain to show buyers and consumers where and how the apparels are produced.The demand for transparency in textile and garment supply chains is growing. As a result, “Transparency” will be at the heart of the new edition with a series of actions and events that will let people know about the manufacturing process, said the organisers.It will help visitors as well as buyers to know the whole process of manufacturing clothing product through a 3D show.“Transparency, in this regard, means knowing people who make the products – from stitching clothes to dyeing the fabric and even producing clothes from the cotton, the expo organizer explained.When companies are working in a transparent way, this also implies openness, communication and accountability across the supply chain and with the public too, it added.This exhibition will offer a unique panel of companies exhibiting their top products and best practices centered on the main theme of the expo, representing the full denim supplying chain.“The vision of Bangladesh Denim Expo is to make Bangladesh a sourcing hub by creating a multinational gathering, exposing new business horizons and greater corporate opportunities for the entire denim value chain as well as uplifting the country’s image to the world,” said Md Mostafiz Uddin, CEO and Founder of Bangladesh Denim Expo.In a world where ethics and responsibilities are currently questioned, the origin and story behind products is the key.Transparency also means to bring in the issues of workers’ rights, well-being and working conditions under monitoring and accountability, said Mostafiz.In the upcoming edition, a total of 58 exhibitors from across the world have already confirmed their participation. Of the total visitors, 40 are from foreign countries, while 18 are from Bangladesh.The international denim exhibition in Dhaka keeps growing in numbers and quality of exhibitors, providing a unique insight on Bangladesh denim, for a new edition that is expected to unveil the secrets of the industry.Among the participants four biggest denim garments manufacturers of Bangladesh in terms of export volume have joined the fair for the November edition. The are Pacific Jeans, Ananta, Bitopi and Dekko.
