The 10th edition of garment accessories and packaging exposition (GAPEXPO) is going to start on Thursday in the city to create a bridge between manufacturers and buyers.Bangladesh Garments Accessories and Packaging Manufacturers and Exporters Association in association with ASK Trade & Exhibitions Pvt Ltd and Zakaria Trade and Fair International will organise the four-day exposition at International Convention City Bashundhara in Dhaka.Industries minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun is expected to inaugurate the expo, the BGAPMEA president Md Abdul Kader Khan said at a press conference at La Vinci Hotel in the city.Two other events namely Garmentech Bangladesh 2019, apparel machinery and allied products tradeshow, and the 10th edition of the International Yarn and Fabrics Sourcing Fair will also be started at the same venue and at the same time.More than 270 companies from 20 countries including Bangladesh, India, Sri Lankan, China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Germany, Italy, France, the USA and Turkey will participate in the fair to display garment accessories and packaging items with machinery.BGAPMEA president hoped that the expo would help the sector to gain more market share in the globe.He said that the sector needs proper support from the government to meet the $50 billion export earnings target from the readymade garment sector by 2021. For excellent performance in exporting accessories and packaging products three companies will receive trophy in three categories — gold, silver and bronze – this year, Kader said.
