Bangladesh State Minister for Labour appeals factories not to terminate workers: Reports

State Minister for Labour in Bangladesh, Munnujan Sufian, has called upon the factories, including the readymade garment manufacturing units, not to terminate or lay-off any workers during the ongoing country-wide lockdown.

Bangladesh has imposed a strict 14-day countrywide lockdown from 23 July to 5 August on account of the COVID-19 pandemic situation in the country even as all export-oriented industries and apparel manufacturing units have not been exempted from the purview of the lockdown this time around.

According to media reports, the State Minister for Labour, in a statement issued in this direction, made this appeal to factory owners and authorities concerned of both non-RMG and RMG factories even as she added the coronavirus pandemic is a global disaster and called upon everyone to work together for the sake of the country.
