Bangladesh Industries Minister for focus on research for sustainable development of apparel industry

Bangladesh’s Industries Minister has underlined that to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals in 2030 and move towards a developed country in 2041, sustainable development of the textile and readymade garments industry is essential even as he stressed on the need to increase linkages between academics and the industry as well.

Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, reportedly, came up with this observation while participating in an event held recently, as per reports.

Addressing a virtual programme titled ‘Sustainable Fashion Textile Production Framework and its implementation in Bangladesh’, Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun said, “We should focus on research to achieve the goal,” while going on to add further that besides extensive research in this regard, there is also a need to increase linkages between industry and the academics.

Principal Investigator of the Global Challenge Research Fund QR-2021 Project Dr. Abu Sadat Muhammad Sayem, reportedly, presided over the virtual meeting.
